£589m allocated to kickstart Transpennine main line upgrades across the North

The Government has allocated £589m to kickstart work on the railway Transpennine main line upgrades between Leeds, Huddersfield and Manchester. These upgrades will establish a new transport body in the north of city mayors and the key councils to speed-up the vital infrastructure projects to improve connect the North’s towns and cities. This Northern Transport Acceleration Council upgrade looks set to supersede activities of the Transport for North body.
