CField Wins £176m Fusion Student Housing Development

The contracts will see CField deliver a combined total of 1,269 purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) beds and 79 affordable homes, with both developments scheduled to open in time for the 2028 academic year.

The larger of the two projects is a £97m mixed-use development in Wood Green, north London, comprising a 636-bed PBSA scheme alongside 79 affordable homes and new public realm improvements.

CField has also commenced construction on a £79m student accommodation project on Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow. The development will provide 633 student beds while preserving the site’s 1930s Art Deco façade and restoring the historic Wellington Arcade as part of a wider city centre regeneration programme.

The latest contract awards further strengthen the partnership between CField and Fusion as both companies continue to expand their presence in the UK’s growing living sector.

Originally established in County Cork, CField has been operating in the UK construction market for approximately 15 years.

Gavin O’Flaherty, managing director of CField Construction, said: “Securing these two major contracts with Fusion Group is an important milestone for CField Construction and a strong endorsement of our team’s delivery capability in the living sector.”

André Ferdinand, projects director at Fusion Group, said: “Wood Green and Sauchiehall Street are pivotal to our growth strategy, and CField’s proven delivery capability aligns with our strategic priorities of opening two high quality developments for the 2028 intake.”
