Despite the project’s expected cost increasing by over 40%, Graham is keen to start main construction for a new Aberdeen cancer and maternity hospital in January. The works will be delivered for the new Baird Family Hospital and ANCHOR Centre.
This move of taking hospital construction forward was made after the board of NHS Grampian backed the project costs after a lengthy review. An update to the full business case is updated for investment and passed it to the Scottish Government for approval.
After the approval, NHS Grampian will sign off a contract with Graham Construction to commence construction. The works for hospital construction are hopefully due to start from January 2021.
Besides, a program of site mobilization activities is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year. The expected costs of the project had jumped from the original estimate of £163m to the latest final estimate of £233m.
