HZI to build £250m energy-from-waste plant

Hitachi Zosen Inova wins the contract to deliver a £250m energy-from-waste plant on the site of the old Skelton Grange power station to the south of Leeds.

Julia Watsford, chief executive officer at enfinium said: “The lessons learnt and synergies with Ferrybridge 1 and 2 have put us in a very strong position to optimize Skelton Grange, and will ensure we successfully deliver a highly reliable and efficient facility on time and on budget.”

Around 410,000 tonnes of municipal & commercial waste will be processed from Yorkshire annually from 2025.

This project will generate up to 49MW of electricity, which is enough to meet the electricity needs of more than 100,000 homes.
