Ian Parker, Managing Director of Costain exits

After serving a short period of a year at Costain, the managing director for transportation division Ian Parker has resigned the firm. Parker initially led the company as the director for rail and airports, after which he became the MD for transportation in May 2019.

The decision of his quit came after Costain was issued a profit warning at the start of the year. The warning states a design dispute with the Welsh Government over its A465 Heads of the Valleys road project. Costain then announced that 2019 expected profit would be cut in half to around £19m. The organization said the rest of the business was performing in line with expectations.

Prior to joining Costain, Parker worked with Mace as a project director for the Trans-Pennine Tunnel scheme. He was interim director of the Smart Motorways Programme before he joined Mace. Parker has a total experience of around 30 years in the construction and infrastructure industry.
