Kier Group is set to begin work in June on the North Plaza at Leiston — a 15-hectare gateway located east of Abbey Road that will manage worker access, deliveries and security screening for the £38bn Sizewell C scheme.
The plaza will serve as the main entry point into the Temporary Construction Area, with new road infrastructure designed to handle buses, deliveries and site traffic before directing workers and materials into the main construction zone.
The £50m–£70m contract is expected to create around 70 jobs and strengthens Kier’s position on one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects, following its previous involvement at Hinkley Point C through a joint venture.
For Sizewell C, the North Plaza represents a critical early phase of works, establishing the logistics and security systems needed to support the next stage of construction. At peak, the project is expected to employ nearly 8,000 workers on site.
