Land & Water to carry out piling works

A contract is awarded to Land & Water to carry out piling works to an area of Nottingham Canal. The contract is awarded on behalf of Sir Robert McAlpine. This construction will happen as part of the Island Quarter Development.

Land & Water is going to install a sheet pile wall on the Canal, and complete with concrete backfill. This will be assisting in the formation of a new concrete capping beam, which will help protect the embankment for years to come.

Land & Water is calling on its experience and civil capabilities to install from the water, using a ravestein pontoon set-up. The Island Quarter is a 40-acre site which will be transformed to bring new homes, creative market, grade ‘A’ office space, retail units, and a lifestyle hotel.

The quarter comprises a ‘linear’ park and community space along with student accommodation to the city. Land & Water’s work on this circa £200k project highlights the firm’s commitment towards creating a unique heritage site.

Also, providing the opportunity for its apprentices is the aim to grow the skill set as they look after the quality monitoring. The firm’s commitment towards safeguarding and encouraging the future of the younger generation is possible through a career in civil engineering.
