A Joint Venture (JV) is being set up with Mace Dragados by HS2 that will allow building a high speed railway station in the new city centre at Birmingham.  This £570m worth contract to the joint venture will work with HS2 Ltd in two stages.

The end of the first phase will see the final detailed design and then build the station in Curzon Street. Mace Dragados JV has also acquired the contract for the £1.3bn worth Euston HS2 station in London. This was previously awarded a contract in 2019.

Both the HS2 terminus in Birmingham city centre and Birmingham Curzon Street are designed by WSP and Grimshaw Architects. The projects were designed to be net zero carbon in operation, capturing rainwater and using sustainable power generation.

Mace and Dragados have also previously worked together on the refurbishment of Birmingham New Street, Battersea Power Station (phase 2) and on the Spanish high speed rail network, including the new Madrid Atocha and Barcelona Sants stations.
