Full planning consent has been secured for a landmark purpose-built student accommodation development, triggering the most significant transformation of the Joseph’s Well estate in over 45 years.
The scheme, known as The Tower, will provide 256 student bedrooms and stands as the largest single investment in Pullans’ 140-year history.
The wider project team brings together Cunniff Design as architect, FutureServ as MEP consultant, Orion Fire as fire consultant, Roscoe as civil and structural engineer, with RBA acting as quantity surveyor and employer’s agent.
McLaren managing director Andrew Beaumontdescribed the appointment as a major success for the contractor’s regional business, reinforcing its commitment to long-term partnerships and the delivery of sustainable projects across Yorkshire and the North East.
Located within easy walking distance of the University of Leeds, Leeds Beckett University and the city centre, the development is well placed to meet strong demand for high-quality, professionally managed student accommodation.
With a strong focus on energy efficiency and long-term operational performance, the building will feature modern building services alongside a carefully considered blend of social, study and relaxation spaces.
Joseph’s Well was acquired by Pullans in 1979, when the former factory and mill complex was converted into office space, later becoming the headquarters of Hammond Suddards in 1990.
