McLaren Living seals £250m regeneration deal in Reading

The long-anticipated agreement will deliver more than 600 new homes — with 30% designated as affordable — alongside 40,000 sq ft of modern workspace, retail units, food and drink venues, and a 102-bed hotel.

Set across a 5.2-acre brownfield site, formerly occupied by the old Civic Centre, the scheme will also introduce a new civic square in front of The Hexagon Theatre, a vibrant community hub, and upgraded public spaces connecting Reading Minster with the Hosier Street market area.

McLaren Living’s development forms a key part of Reading’s broader regeneration strategy, complementing its neighbouring Broad Street Mall project. Together, the two sites will deliver an impressive total of around 1,200 new homes, reshaping the town centre into a thriving mixed-use destination.
