The Bristol-based MEP specialist has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators at the High Court, giving the company temporary protection from creditor action while it assesses its financial position.
Founded in 1988 as an electrical contractor, ACES has spent almost four decades building its presence across the South West before expanding its services into mechanical engineering, fire and security, HVAC, renewable energy and general works.
The broader offering has established ACES as a full mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) contractor serving a wide range of construction and infrastructure projects.
The company recently pursued an ambitious expansion strategy beyond its Bristol base, targeting larger opportunities in London and the South East.
After winning a number of projects across the region, including high-end residential developments in Knightsbridge, ACES opened a permanent London office last year and strengthened its senior leadership team.
At the time, the company said the expansion would allow it to compete for larger and more complex projects while developing stronger relationships with clients and supply chain partners across London and the South East.
ACES operates across commercial, healthcare, education, defence, infrastructure, residential and public sector markets, working for both main contractors and direct clients.
The business is understood to employ more than 50 people.
