A £60m mixed-use community is brought up with detailed plans by Developer Capital & Centric at Weir Mill in Stockport. The plans to build town centre site with a 254 flats scheme includes 167 in the two new buildings and 87 within the existing mill buildings.
Approximately 24,000 sq ft of commercial space is included in the West Shed. This will become a new indoor space with vaulted arches, exposed brick, and skylights. The site is located alongside the town’s iconic viaduct.
Weir Mill started as water powered cotton works in the late 18th century. It also comprises the original water wheelhouse and parts of the mill buildings are still standing today. Now, the Weir Mill scheme is part of the £1bn town centre regeneration plans.
Stockport’s Mayoral Development Corporation will be delivering the new scheme construction works. This is one of the first projects to come forward in the new Town Centre West regeneration zone.
The town centre would have an overall development of 1m square feet of employment, 3,500 new homes and amenities, leisure, retail, health and education space being delivered. Over 5,000 new jobs will be created.
