The planning applications for new homes at Walliwall were submitted by Orkney Builders. The new 97 homes under contractors plan were applied to Orkney Islands Council. The start of next year is expected to be the start of the project by the contractors.
The site is located on the outskirts of Kirkwall and will witness the first phase of the development with 28 houses for the local affordable rented market. Alongside, the phase two is allocated to create 42 houses aimed at ‘help to buy’ owners.
The development will be similar to Orkney Builders’ Grainbank area. The final and third phase of Walliwall plans covers a mix of two and three bedroom homes. This will cater for a broad range of local housing needs. 16 new homes at Cairston Road in Stromness are underway in construction by Orkney Builders (Contractors) Ltd.
