There were plans submitted for a student accommodation block with 27-storey in the north west of Sheffield city centre. The designs by architect Lewis and Hickey consist of 10-27 storey buildings. Waterman has developed MEP design for the Calico Sheffield project.

Niveda, known to be the student room’s developer, plans to demolish a three-storey office building in the city’s St Vincent’s Quarter, and a former BMW showroom. The demolition would be in place for a 520 student beds project.

The demolition site is bounded by Hollis Croft and Broad Lane. Besides, Niveda is expanding its ‘Calico’ student accommodation portfolio across the UK. The firm has 500,000 sq ft under development and more than £200m of assets under management.

The demolition planning firm is in thoughts to plan the same high-quality student residential offer in Sheffield which it achieved at Calico Liverpool. With the market conditions coming to usual situations, this design could be perfect for residential or hotel use.
