Watkin Jones Wins Gateway 2 Clearance for Bristol PBSA Project

A £100m student accommodation scheme in Bristol is moving forward through a joint venture between Watkin Jones and Maslow Capital.

Located on a brownfield site within the Temple Quarter regeneration zone, the development will deliver a mix of studio and cluster apartments across three blocks, including 30 non-ensuite units.

The scheme is targeting strong sustainability credentials, with ambitions for BREEAM Excellent, EPC B and WiredScore Platinum ratings, as Watkin Jones continues to futureproof its rental portfolio.

Completion is scheduled for the 2028 academic year.

Gwyn Pritchard, managing director at Watkin Jones, said: “The Gateway 2 green light reflects the strength of our partnerships, the quality of our design, and the hard work of our teams.”

The approval marks another boost for Watkin Jones in Bristol, following Gateway 2 clearance earlier this year for its £60m Freestone Yards project in the same regeneration area.

Separately, a 201-bed purpose-built student accommodation scheme is being delivered for a joint venture between Moorfield Group and Tiger Developments, further strengthening activity in the city’s growing student housing market.
