Private housebuilder Willmott Dixon will deliver 75 affordable homes as part of a major town-centre regeneration scheme in Oldham.
The project will see the construction of a six-storey apartment block for regeneration specialist Muse and Oldham Council on a former car park next to the Mumps Metrolink stop.
The development represents the first phase of the wider Prince’s Gate regeneration programme, which aims to create a new residential gateway into Oldham town centre.
Designed to meet the Future Homes Standard, the new homes are expected to achieve energy performance around 70% to 75% better than current building regulations, helping to reduce energy consumption and improve long-term sustainability.
Construction is scheduled for completion in summer 2028.
Anthony Dillon, managing director for Willmott Dixon North, said construction was due to complete in summer 2028.
The Prince’s Gate project adds to Willmott Dixon’s growing portfolio of town-centre housing schemes across northern England.
The contractor is currently delivering 81 net-zero homes at Station Gardens in Rochdale and 82 homes through the £24 million Hough Top development in Leeds. It is also preparing to begin work on the £114 million Stage regeneration project in Luton, which will include 292 apartments.
