Active travel schemes worth £22m under way

The trio of ‘active travel’ schemes with £22m by the Scottish government will allow people to cycle, wheel, and walk. This new design construction will be taking place for the schemes in Ayr, Broughty Ferry, and Hawick.

The fund is being allocated through the Sustrans Places for everyone initiative. Active modes will be targeted for everyday journeys in favor of sustainable active travel modes by reallocating road space.

An investment of over £500m in active travel will take place across the next five years, as the Scottish government has committed. Everyone programme will help in executing more permanent projects, including smaller schemes, will be progressed through the Sustrans Places.
