B&K to start Newcastle office construction worth £45m

B & K secures £54m glass research centre contract

The first phase of a £100m project will be started by Bowmer & Kirkland starting from next month. The construction is destined to be Tyneside’s biggest regeneration scheme. Ruebens Brothers-owned Taras Properties is bringing forward the £45m first phase office block.

The new construction will be placed in Pilgrim Place on the site of the former Bank of England building. This 14-storey Bank House office project will be part of the wider East Pilgrim Street development.

The Newcastle office building includes three city blocks of 400,000 sq ft. It is designed by Ryder Architecture while Arup is providing engineering input. The project manager, Chris Turnbull said: “Bowmer & Kirkland has been awarded the contract to build the office block, which is programmed to start on site in mid-October with a scheduled completion in Spring 2023.”
