Willmott Dixon has been appointed to lead a major regeneration programme in Darlington, working in partnership with Cityheart, Space Architects, Identity Consult and others. The consortium was confirmed by Darlington Borough Council as the delivery team for a long-term initiative focused on transforming three prominent sites at East Street, Commercial Street and Kendrew Street.
The East Street location, positioned next to the newly established Treasury offices within Darlington’s Economic Campus, is set to benefit from the wave of government investment in the town.
Together with the council, the team will now develop detailed proposals, with plans expected to be presented to Cabinet early next year.
Willmott Dixon already has a strong presence in Darlington, where it is currently overseeing the station upgrade, including the delivery of a 600-space multi-storey car park.
Recent schemes in the town include the Hopetown visitor attraction, Innovation Central business hub, and the refurbishment of the Hippodrome Theatre.
