Kane succeeds contracts worth £15m on Woking estate

A £29m design and build contract is given to Kane by the main contractor Balfour Beatty. This will allow Kane to be a part of the £250m Lewisham Gateway Phase 2 project. The construction of 649 flats across four blocks is the aim of the project.

This is a 26-month build that will rise 11 to 30 storeys buildings across the four blocks. The project also houses retail units fitted to shell and core, gym space fitted to shell and core and a basement energy centre, and a shell finished space for a cinema.

Kane will install prefabricated utility pods in each apartment. Also, energy centres will be prefabricated off site, along with corridor service modules containing all landlord low temperature hot water, electrical containment, and boosted cold water and sprinkler pipework.

Kane will manufacture the construction stuff in its factory in Northern Ireland which is off site. Further works include the full public health installation throughout the project, consisting of rainwater pipework and domestic cold-water system, served by cold-water storage plantrooms.

All specialist systems will be designed, supplied, and installed as part of Kane’s scope of works including sprinkler systems, ventilation systems, CCTV, dry and wet risers, fire alarm, access control, PV systems and electric vehicle car charging systems.
