The project involves a comprehensive package of civil and MEICA works aimed at enhancing supply resilience and upgrading ageing infrastructure at a key operational site in the Lea Valley. Reports Contract Journal

Core components of the scheme include the construction of a new 700 Ml/day high lift pumping station, the installation of recirculation and run-to-waste systems for 32 slow sand filters, and significant upgrades to the site’s contact tanks and existing power supply and distribution networks.

Thames Water is also exploring the inclusion of a cryptosporidium treatment system and a dechlorination facility, which could be added to the final project scope.

The new pumping station is set to be constructed within the footprint of an existing slow sand filter and will connect to the Thames Water Ring Main.

Acciona has been appointed to deliver the full scope of works—including design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and decommissioning—under the negotiated procedure.

This scheme is part of Thames Water’s conditional allowance programme, supporting efforts to future-proof the capital’s drinking water infrastructure.
