Dealer Greenshields JCB has fulfilled a major order for Flannery Plant Hire, supplying a wide range of JCB equipment including Loadall telescopic handlers, X Series tracked excavators, site dumpers, mini excavators, and 3CX backhoe loaders. Reports Contract Journal

The newly acquired fleet will be rolled out across 2025 to support major national infrastructure projects.

This latest investment marks another significant chapter in the long-standing relationship between the two family-run businesses. The partnership dates back to 1972 when Pat Flannery launched Flannery Plant Hire with a single JCB 3C backhoe loader.

Now managed by Pat’s sons—Martin, Patrick Jnr, and Paul—Flannery Plant Hire operates a fleet of over 6,500 machines.

Managing Director Patrick Flannery said: “Our customers continue to be impressed by the performance and reliability of the JCB range, and we remain committed to investing in the highest quality, most innovative equipment on the market.

“We are particularly excited by JCB’s advancements in hydrogen-powered machinery and look forward to taking delivery of the first hydrogen-powered 3CX.”

JCB’s Global Major Accounts MD, Steve Fox, commented: “It’s an honour to continue our close partnership with Flannery Plant Hire. From Pat Snr’s first JCB 3C to today’s multi-million-pound investments, the Flannery family’s dedication and forward-thinking approach are truly commendable.”

Greenshields JCB MD James Richardson added: “Our relationship with Flannery spans more than 30 years, allowing us to fully understand the demands of their customers and provide the essential aftersales support needed to keep their fleet operating efficiently.”

Based in Wembley, Flannery Plant Hire is on course to invest £107m in new equipment this year, including £65m already spent on Cat machines earlier in 2025.
