Pat Fitzgerald is set to join Wates Group in September, following nearly 15 years at Mace, where he most recently served as Commercial Director for the Private Sector, overseeing a £800m turnover business. Reports Contract Journal

In his upcoming role at Wates, Fitzgerald will be responsible for driving the commercial strategy across the company’s national portfolio. He will also lead the commercial, legal, and building safety teams within the group’s various business divisions.

Commenting on his appointment, Fitzgerald said:
“This is a very exciting time to be joining Wates, as it continues its impressive growth journey, delivering larger and more complex projects across the country. I’m delighted to be part of this next chapter and look forward to supporting the business in its purpose-driven mission to deliver excellence.”

Eoghan O’Lionaird, Chief Executive of Wates Group, said:
“Pat brings extensive experience in delivering major projects across the UK. His strong commercial acumen, deep sector knowledge, and ability to develop effective operating models in multi-division organisations make him an excellent fit for Wates. His leadership in building high-performing teams aligns seamlessly with our long-term ambitions.

“We look forward to welcoming him to the team and seeing the positive impact he will have on our continued growth and innovation.”

Fitzgerald will succeed Simon Potter, Wates’ long-serving Group Commercial Director, who retired at the end of April after a distinguished 36-year career with the company.

In the interim, Chris Symeonides is overseeing the role until Fitzgerald officially takes up his position on September 1.
