The project will deliver a 6,700m², seven-storey facility at the current Mile End campus, replacing outdated infrastructure with a modern, purpose-built academic building. Reports Contract Journal
Set for completion in 2027, the new development will offer flexible teaching and learning environments designed to meet evolving educational needs.
Designed by Nicholas Hare Architects, the scheme also features landscaped terraces and enhanced public green spaces to support wellbeing and sustainability.
This latest contract strengthens Willmott Dixon’s expanding education portfolio with the university. It follows the 2024 appointment to refurbish and extend the Informatics and Technology Learning building in Bethnal Green.
That project includes a full retrofit and the addition of two extra storeys to the existing structure, further enhancing teaching capacity and infrastructure.
Richard Poulter, managing director for Willmott Dixon in the South, said: “Contributing to this vision is incredibly fulfilling and reflects our commitment to creating inspiring spaces for students, staff, and the wider community.”
Construction for both schemes is being carried out while Queen Mary University continues to serve more than 32,000 students across its academic programmes.
