Developer Sphere Group, in partnership with Select Property, is advancing the landmark Edition Birmingham scheme — the first residential skyscraper in the city to secure approval from the Building Safety Regulator.

The project will deliver 581 apartments beside Centenary Square, split across the 46-storey Centenary Tower and 15-storey Park Residence.

Midgard, part of the JRL Group, will deploy modular construction methods to accelerate delivery, with the first phase scheduled for completion in 2027.

Thomas Taylor, managing director at Sphere Group, said:
“The new Building Safety Act Gateway 2 brings some of the most rigorous safety standards globally, placing the UK at the forefront and making it one of the safest markets for investment. Achieving Gateway 2 approval is an important milestone and reinforces our commitment to delivering Edition Birmingham to the highest standards of quality and safety.”

Residents will benefit from an extensive wellness offering, including a 20-metre elevated swimming pool, hydro pool, plunge pool, sauna and steam room.

Additional amenities span a sky lounge with private dining on the 44th and 45th floors, a dedicated co-working hub known as The Study, and a 9,000 sq ft outdoor podium terrace complete with a cinema screen and BBQ area.

Engineering consultancy is being led by SOM, with Futureserv appointed as MEP consultant, while Weedon Architects is overseeing interior design.
