The scheme, which has an estimated construction value of around £65m, will deliver 280 co-living studios and 44 affordable homes across two buildings rising to 10 and seven storeys.
The project will complete the final plot of the Neptune Wharf masterplan at the corner of Wansbeck Road and Monier Road, creating a new gateway to Fish Island.
Designed by HTA Design, the co-living building will feature a gym, library, cinema, creative studios, as well as shared kitchens, dining areas and social spaces.
The development will also include a social co-working café and flexible space for pop-up events.
A central landscaped courtyard will connect the two buildings while providing a link between the development and the surrounding neighbourhood.
The car-free scheme will include extensive cycle facilities, rain gardens, sustainable drainage systems and rooftop solar panels. It is targeting a BREEAM Excellent rating.
