Councillors have resolved to grant planning permission for the North West Quadrant development, a major regeneration project set to deliver 1,539 homes and a large office building next to Slough railway station.
The 3.6-hectare site has remained unused since the university campus closed. The proposals will transform the vacant land into a mixed-use neighbourhood centred around a new public park.
The development will include 25,000 sq m of office space, 3,220 sq m of retail units and a nursery with capacity for 100 children. Additional facilities will include a community events space, children’s play areas, walking and cycling routes, and 420 parking spaces.
- Phase 1 (Detailed): The first phase will focus on the central and residential plots, with construction expected to start in 2027 and take approximately four years to complete.
- Phases 2 and 3 (Outline): The later phases will deliver the office buildings and remaining mixed-use plots, with development planned to continue through to 2037.
Muse has been involved in regeneration projects across Slough for 13 years through its joint venture with the borough council. Its previous developments include The Curve, Slough Ice Arena, The Centre, the Moxy Hotel and more than 500 homes.
