The new Hollywood-style film studios in Dagenham, east London, are planned to be constructed soon. The plan for £110m proposals has been approved by councilors. The studio’s plan includes sound stages and workshops. This will be built in Dagenham East, on a 22-acre former Sanofi pharmaceutical factory site.
The Film studios plan comprises six sound stages fitting into a total of 140,000 sq ft. Hair and makeup or dressing rooms, production offices would be accommodated besides sound stages. Two existing buildings will be converted to workshops for set construction. Also, green roofs will be included as part of key sustainability measures.
Barking and Dagenham Council’s company and Be First are currently looking for a development partner. The previous association of Pacific Ventures was withdrawn last year due to uncertainty of Brexit. Also, the regeneration body is aiming to secure a joint venture agreement. Furthermore Be First is planning to build the studios and put the site on lease.
