Wates raises paid paternity leaves by four times

Wates in consideration of its staff modifies the leave policies to suit the best benefits in the industry. The policies reveal a balance in work and spending time with the family.

The firm says it is increasing paternity/partner leave to eight weeks full pay – more than a fourfold increase on the current policy. Group also increases maternity leave to 26 weeks full pay, and a further 26 weeks statutory maternity pay.

Adding the benefit of introducing carer’s leave for the first time to ensure all members of staff can take up to four weeks of unpaid leave in a year, said wates. Furthermore, it’s too hard for a family to miss a person. Hence, for the improvement of bereavement leave, it includes two weeks of full pay when losing a member of immediate family, one of the policy added with change.

David Allen, Chief Executive at Wates Group, said: “To be truly fit for the future and to continue to succeed, we need to become a more progressive and inclusive organization.
