Willmott Dixon is picked to take up £19.7m Brian Clarke Church of England Academy construction works in Oldham. Willmott will be the main contractor for the project while The Cranmer Education Trust project will create a 1,200 place school in the Lancashire town centre.
The name of artist Brian Clarke is associated with the school after him being one of Oldham’s most prominent sons. The trust hopes that the building will include an original piece of art by the school’s patron.
The art will potentially be a stained-glass window since that is the medium for which he is most celebrated. Willmott Dixon’s involvement in the Brian Clarke Academy follows on from its completion last year of Dixons Trinity Academy in Leeds.
This project will be accomplished through the Department for Education framework. With five weeks ahead of schedule, it handed over the £9m Construction Centre at Oldham College in March.
