The long delayed project for a build-to-rent residential development is yet to start with the construction works from September 2021. It was put on hold since the first national lockdown in March 2020 took place in the UK.
McLaren Construction is appointed as the main contractor for the £72m construction works with British Land taking hold of the project at Aldgate Place Phase 2 in London. It is a logistically challenging site next to Aldgate East station, comprising 160 homes.
The project was put on hold after the first national lockdown was announced in March 2020. At that stage, McLaren had a preconstruction services agreement (PCSA) with the developer British Land.
The project will also include construction of office spaces in a 20,000 sq ft area once complete. This is McLaren’s 15th project for British Land over the past 10 years and takes the total value of its work for this customer to more than £200m.
