Arup is making its 6,000 UK employees to work in accordance to their flexible timings and location too. This new hybrid work model allows employees to choose their working days across a seven-day week, to make life easier.
This is as part of a big shift to flexible working. So, if you are fond of spending time outdoors during the weekdays, you can have a break while working at the firm. Arup names the program as a ‘Work Unbound’ model for employees across the UK, Middle East, India, and Africa.
Currently, the organization is keeping its city centre offices all open in view of “places for collaboration, creativity and innovation”. Staff will be allowed to work from home, or remotely, as per the lenience terms for up to three days per week.
However, an employee needs to spend at least two days in an Arup office. Arup ‘Work Unbound’ is not just a response to working from home during Covid-19 pandemic. The firm was running flexible working pilots back in 2019.
The drive was introduced with a three-month trial conducted last year in the Liverpool office. The study found that 53 out of 65 staff members flexed their hours at some point during the pilot. With the varying number of hours they worked each day up or down.
23 other members chose to work during the weekend at some point during the pilot. Remote working was also embraced: roughly half worked from home at some point during the week, and half opted to stay in the office during the pilot for the full five days a week.
