Britcon, the civil engineering, building, and structural steel specialist, has laid a solid foundation for future growth after reporting a 10% increase in revenue to £37m for the year ending 30 September 2024. Reports Contract Journal

Despite a dip in pre-tax profit to £844,000 from £1.2m—attributed to increased investment in regional office expansions across Yorkshire and the North East, and the rollout of new digital platforms for site and commercial operations—the company has maintained a robust cash position and is forecasting a significant surge in turnover for 2025.

Managing Director Nick Shepherd commented: “2024 was a truly transformational year for Britcon.

“We have secured major new clients and framework agreements, and with a forecast turnover of £70m for 2025, we are stepping confidently into our next chapter of sustainable growth.

“Our structure, systems, and capabilities are now fully aligned, and we remain focused on delivering outstanding value for our clients and the communities we work with.”

The company currently employs around 90 staff and is planning further growth in 2025, supported by its direct delivery model.

Britcon has secured places on several high-profile frameworks, including Northumbrian Water’s £3.6bn AMP8 programme, along with agreements with NEPO, ABP, NEUPC, and Bradford Council.

In addition, it has been awarded several major projects with new clients, such as the £13m Airfield Business Park scheme for Leicestershire County Council, a £7.5m ASR II civils project for Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, an £8.9m Advanced Manufacturing Unit for Harworth Group, and £12m of contracts with Associated British Ports.
