Construction vacancies hit a new all-time high, topped 40,000 for the first time since 2001

Construction vacancies hit a new all-time high, topped 40,000 for the first time since 2001

According to the latest data, Construction industry vacancies hit a new all-time high and topped 40,000 first time after the 2001 data.

Almost 43,000 vacancies are open in the construction sector in the three months till September ending as per the data provided by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Darin Burrows, director at construction recruitment agency City Site Solutions has stated that labour shortage always peaks in the summer, and this year demand was higher comparatively.

Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) chief executive Alasdair Reisner stated that the numbers are indication for the industry’s strong recovery: “Vacancies in the construction industry being at an all-time high is a natural reflection of the economy bouncing back from the pandemic and a substantial pipeline of planned investment.”
