The contractor will replace seven existing buildings, including 1960s blocks containing RAAC, with a new 10,000 sq m school on the existing Wessex Close site.

Early works began this summer, with foundation work scheduled to start in the autumn.

Graham regional director Pat O’Hare said the new two and three-storey building would bring teaching, specialist learning and sports facilities together under one roof across the 6.8-hectare campus.

Facilities will include music, art, design and technology rooms, ICT, humanities, maths and science classrooms. The school will also have an activity studio, sports hall and swimming pool.

The scheme will provide dedicated SEND facilities, an administration suite and separate entrances for the school and wider community.

External works will include new sports pitches, reconfigured staff parking and a cycle shelter.

Green roofs and solar PV canopies will also be installed to improve the environmental performance of the new school.

Mason Navarro Pledge is the structural engineer, while Cundall is providing MEP engineering services.

The project is Graham’s third appointment through the DfE Construction Framework 2021. Previous appointments include The Castle Rock School in Leicestershire and Oasis Academy Temple Quarter in Bristol.
