The Blackburn-based plant hire company has depots throughout the country, including Keighley, Northwich, and Southampton. The acquisition expands Fox Group’s nationwide footprint by acquiring B&W’s hire fleet of approximately 2,500 items. After three years of acquisitions and organic expansion, the diversified haulage firm has 30 locations, a 300-wagon fleet, 4500 pieces of plant and machinery, and 700 employees. Fox Brothers (Lancashire), Hurt Plant Hire, CMP, Celplas, JJ O’Grady Ltd, Blackledge Plant Hire, CRH Plant Hire, Woods Waste, and Midland Site Services comprise it.
The Group, founded in 1932 by Jack Fox and handed over the reins to his son Harold Fox (HF), known as Barney, in the 1970s, is on a path of strong revenue growth and solid financial returns after posting £52 million in sales and generating £3 million in pre-tax profit in the fiscal year ending August 2021.
“The acquisition of B&W adds a considerable quantity of plant items to our already significant fleet of plant, tippers, speciality compact equipment, and bulk haulage,” stated Paul Fox, CEO of Fox Group. The geographical breadth of B&W’s depots further broadens Fox Group’s reach, expanding our already vast footprint across the UK.”
Andrew Partington, B&W’s managing director, will remain in his position within the Fox Group.
