Around 1,785 new affordable homes are planned, including 400 set aside for social rent in the first phase. The remaining homes will be delivered through a partnership between the council, developer Lovell, and Homes England.

The wider masterplan features later-living accommodation, a new high street, sports and community facilities, green open spaces, and improved transport links.

Lovell was appointed last month as the council’s preferred development partner, with both parties now finalising a partnership agreement. The deal, expected to be signed in spring 2026, will secure full funding and pave the way for construction to begin.

Cllr Brennan, cabinet member for housing and homelessness, said the regeneration will deliver “51% affordable housing, equating to nearly 1,800 homes,” and assured that “every existing council tenant wishing to remain will be accommodated.”

He added that 68% of residents consulted backed the plans, which will support Birmingham’s ambition to build 51,100 new homes by 2031.love
