The Kettering-based company employs more than 120 people and specialises in designing and delivering electricity connections of up to 132kV.
The acquisition strengthens M Group’s Energy Infrastructure division as growing investment in renewable energy, electric vehicles and data centres increases demand for new and upgraded electricity grid connections.
HVSS reported a 31% increase in turnover to £48m for the year ending March 2025.
Established in 2010, the independent connection provider operates additional offices in Leeds and Cardiff. Its services include high-voltage and multi-utility infrastructure for industrial, commercial, residential, electric vehicle and healthcare developments.
M Group said the acquisition would expand its service offering, covering the entire process from initial design to energisation, infrastructure upgrades and ongoing maintenance.
Andrew Findlay, chief executive of M Group, said: “This acquisition is great news for M Group, HVSS, and our clients. It materially strengthens our capabilities in the high-voltage connections market at a critical time in the UK’s energy transition, and means we can offer our clients a broader range of services to meet their strategic needs.”
Richard Parkes, managing director of HVSS, said: “Joining M Group will be transformational for HVSS. M Group’s scale, breadth and client relationships will help accelerate our growth, secure larger and more complex projects, and provide our people with greater career opportunities.”
