Situated along the northeastern boundary, the Slade Green to Dartford railway line presents a unique challenge, requiring McLaren’s expertise in working near rail infrastructure under a Network Rail Basic Asset Protection Agreement.
The scheme is designed to achieve BREEAM Outstanding, EPC A, and a carbon-neutral whole life cycle, emphasizing sustainability and energy efficiency. Key eco-friendly features include photovoltaic roof panels, energy-efficient LED lighting, bicycle storage, EV charging points, and external wellbeing areas for occupants.The 12-acre brownfield site, located in Bexley Council’s Thames Road Industrial Area, has remained unused for nearly 15 years.
McLaren Construction’s managing director for industrial and logistics, David Gavin, said: “There are some locations where warehouse construction might be straightforward, but not in an urban area, up against a railway line and with the ambition of achieving BREEAM Outstanding.
