Plans due for £270m Leeds Lisbon Square scheme

The City Council of Leeds has selected a developer for plans for a £270m scheme. These plans include the city’s former International Swimming Pool. Alongside, Marrico Asset Management and Helios Real Estate will submit plans by the end of the year for a 2.8-acre car park site on Lisbon Street which will be used for a major mixed-use development.

The Lisbon Square scheme includes a total of 500 student apartments, a 300-bed hotel, 400 flats, and 150,000sq ft of offices. The pool demolition in 2009 led the site to be used for council car parking since then. With the approval for planning permissions, work would begin in 2021.

Lisbon Square would be laying path further investments in the west end of the city centre, council leaders expect. Besides, a planning permission was secured in January for a 17-storey office development on neighboring Wellington Street.
