Scottish Water Launches £800 Million Framework Bidding Process

Scottish Water seeks suppliers with various capabilities for a £500m-£800m programme, including expertise in MEICA, civil construction, and ceramic membrane products. A chosen principal partner will need to possess these capabilities or demonstrate the ability to acquire them.Reports Contract Journal

The appointed primary supplier for the Ceramic Membrane Programme must have pan-Scotland capability to ensure effective programme delivery across the country.

The framework is set for awarding next year, with a contract period extending to March 2033 and options for further extensions.

In 2022, Scottish Water implemented ceramic membrane technology at the Bonnycraig Water Treatment Works in Peebles, located in the Scottish Borders. Amey served as the principal contractor, with RSE as the design consultant, utilizing treatment systems from PWNT.

Building on the success of this technology, Scottish Water’s new programme will kick off with phase 1—construction and commissioning of the Turriff Ceramic Membrane Water Treatment Works in Aberdeenshire.
