The newly launched Decommissioning and Nuclear Waste Partnership (DNWP) is set to drive the next generation of high-hazard risk reduction programmes at Sellafield, focusing on retrieval, remediation, and long-term waste management across the Cumbrian site.
This landmark four-lot framework brings together some of the nuclear industry’s most experienced and influential organisations:
DNWP Framework
Lot 1 – Remediation: A2R (AtkinsRéalis and Altrad); Amentum
Lot 2 – Retrievals: The Decommissioning Alliance (Amentum, AtkinsRéalis, and Westinghouse)
Lot 3 – Retrievals: Nuclear Decommissioning Solutions (Altrad, Cavendish Nuclear, Shepley Engineers)
Lot 4 – Integrated Nuclear Waste Partner: A2R
Replacing the previous Design Services Alliance and Decommissioning Delivery Partnership, DNWP will play a vital role in safely retrieving, treating, and managing legacy waste from Sellafield’s oldest and most technically challenging facilities.
Sellafield’s Chief Supply Chain Officer, James Riddick, said the new framework sits at the heart of the company’s mission to safely, efficiently, and sustainably clean up the UK’s nuclear legacy.
All partners have committed to a joint sustainability and social impact plan, encompassing initiatives such as apprenticeship programmes, SME engagement, non-profit collaborations, and skills development across Cumbria.
Representing one of the largest decommissioning partnerships in UK history, DNWP ensures continuity of expertise, long-term investment, and enduring support for the region’s nuclear supply chain.
