Stockport’s historic Weir Mill town centre

The Stockport’s historic Weir Mill town centre site will soon be delivered with plans as Developer Capital & Centric will do it. This scheme will transform into a 250-home project and the plans are yet to be submitted before the end of this year. This site located at the town’s iconic viaduct, Weir Mill started with water powered cotton works in the late 18th century.

This is an original water wheelhouse at Stockport with a mill building still standing today. Developer C&C is planning for public consultation in August while the £60m proposal works will convert the mill into housing. This will be Stockport’s Mayoral Development Corporation’s ambitious plans for the town centre, while the project is located alongside the town’s iconic viaduct.

Homes England will be backing the project with £7m of Housing Infrastructure Fund money. Besides, the Weir Mill site will be adjacent to a brand new transport interchange worth £120m.
