Taylor Woodrow Plus has won a £328m contract for A358 upgrade, while Highways England has handed over the design and builds works. This upgrade scheme will stretch from Taunton to Southfields.
Vinci Construction UK names Taylor Woodrow as its sister company and under its civil engineering division section. Woodrow will work with consulting engineers Arup and Ramboll to widen the dual carriageway a nine-mile section of the A358.
The partnership will allow the Somerset upgrade between Southfields Roundabout on the A303 and the M5 at Taunton. Ground investigation and environmental surveys will start shortly while preparatory works have already begun.
The scheme is part of a long-term aim to create a dual carriageway link between London and Cornwall. There are still over 35 miles of single carriageway while much of the corridor is a dual carriageway.
