Winvic starts earthworks contract worth £21m at giant business park

A £21m civils and infrastructure deal work was started to prepare the ground for a 238-acre employment park in Leicestershire. The earthworks package by Winvic will run until December 2021 is set to be a deadline with earthworks package for IM Properties.

The project will be carried out at its Mercia Park site adjacent to junction 11 of the M42. The company will be excavating over 1 million m3 of material. The compounds will be remodeled to form 3000m of screening bunds by accommodating the development plateaux.

The largest crawler excavator for the first time will be used in the UK.  Volvo EC950 Crawler Excavator which weighs 90-tonnes will be running through the site and is capable of excavating 7m3 of material. This massive machine can lift up to 39,900kg.

Besides, Winvic will work on the installation of 7,500m of underground drainage. Furthermore three areas of highway improvements and footpaths throughout the park will also be carried away under the company’s operations.
