Call on new firms to take up parliament buildings repair works worth £270m

The maintenance works for the Parliamentary Estate, including the Palace of Westminster are being called for new firms to take up the project. The parliamentary repair works with a £270m deal will cover three main areas. Specialist conservation from stone and plasterwork to glass, paint and finishes; MEP works; and special emergency works worth up to £2m are the major areas.

The patch and repair works are expected to prevent unplanned outages and address health and safety issues. These issues are probably from both failing erosion of building fabric, and M7E systems. This framework will continue for around four years and might extend for up to two extra years. A Parliamentary spokesperson said that the costs associated with this potential series of contracts remain largely in line with existing maintenance costs.
