The earthworks will be soon taking place as Costain is setting plans to launch A30 upgrade works. The main construction works will be following for the A30 in Cornwall.
Between Chiverton Cross and Carland Cross roundabouts, an 8.7-mile stretch of the A30 single carriageway will be covered with widening to dual carriageway. It is expected to see costs of £330m to Highways England for construction.
The main works contract worth £210m was awarded to Costain on 31st March 2020. Diversion of utilities, ground investigation work, and vegetation clearance to inform detailed design were carried since the approval was made.
Costain will imminently start main earthworks and construction of new structures. The scheme includes building a 70mph dual carriageway, grade separated junctions at Chiverton Cross, Chybucca and Carland Cross.
Also, new bridges will be built at Pennycomequick Lane, Tolgroggan Farm, and over the Allet to Tresawsen road.
