The construction of 237 energy efficient homes will be taken up by the Contractor Engie. This £28m housing scheme is in view of transformation of council-owned brownfield land in Rotherham.
The land for development previously had the dwellings at Whinney Hill and Chesterhill Avenue. These former dwellings were destroyed and the land in these areas of Rotherham was vacant for many years.
Engie has collaborated with three housing provider partners to complete the scheme with the mixed-tenure scheme offer. Categorizing them- 84 will be run by Great Places Housing Group, Wise Living will take on 80 homes for market rent, and Sanctuary Homes will receive 73 new homes for both rent and shared ownership purposes.
The construction process will be completed with the usage of a local supply chain, Engie said. This will include creating apprenticeship opportunities. Besides, Engine has a longstanding relationship with Rotherham Council while delivering housing maintenance deals for the council.
