The £200m redevelopment plan of Guildford Station will soon be started by Network Rail and Kier. The deal will cover approximately 100 build to rent flats. Grainger which is the rental homes developer is funding the £37m rental homes element for an extensive development.
An improved public realm, £25m new station building and integrated transport interchange, and the widening of Walnut Tree Close and 440 new homes are included under this scheme. Also construction of a 644-space multi-storey car park and part of the first tranche of rail improvements are under way.
The station works will begin this autumn. Several conditions are subjected in the build to rent transaction with Solum. After a full agreement, construction will start in the summer of next year for the private rental flats.
