GSSArchitecture has initiated construction works on the new Macmillan Cancer Support Centre at Kettering General Hospital. This move takes place following a turf-cutting ceremony which was held on 12 July.
This project in Northamptonshire will bring a range of vital cancer support services together under one roof. The centre will also provide welfare benefits advice, Along with providing information on all aspects of treatment.
There are also wig-fitting and signposting to other local services. The centre will make use of the space available while it is located in the courtyard outside the main block of the hospital. It also provides an engaging and sympathetic environment for those needing to use the centre.
Maintaining a less clinical and more private, calming space is the criteria of this development. The unique curved nature of the plan will enable the building to interact with several interesting external spaces which have been created.
GSSArchitecture is working as architect, lead consultant and principal designer on the scheme alongside main contractor Marshdale Construction Ltd and GSSLi, quantity surveyors of the project.
